DualSense v2 Controller with 12-hour Battery Leaks

A new version of the DualSense controller has briefly appeared on Best Buy Canada’s website. The product description for the DualSense v2 indicates that the new model has an “exceptional 12-hour battery life, on a full charge.”

The price of the new DualSense v2 controller is $89.99 CAD, matching the original DualSense controller’s RRP. The claimed 12-hour battery life on the new model is a significant uplift on the original’s 8-hour battery lift. However, the usage of features such as the built-in microphone, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and LED lights determines the actual battery life.

It remains unclear exactly how Sony improved the battery life, but possibilities include increasing the built-in battery’s capacity, enhancing the efficiency of chipsets and motors. Or a combination of both.
