Capcom has announced a delay to Resident Evil Re:Verse, the multiplayer companion game to Resident Evil Village. The game was announced back in January 2021, and was expected to launch alongside Resident Evil Village, until it was delayed to July 2021. Today’s announcement now delays the game further, into 2022 so the team can continue working on the game.
The announcement, which was made on twitter, says the release window is now 2022, with a more specific release date expected at a later time. A download code to access Resident Evil Re:Verse was included with physical copies of Resident Evil Village, which will continue to work but Capcom recommend redeeming it now so you are ready to play when the game launches.
The statement from Capcom reads:
The previously announced July 2021 launch of Resident Evil Re:Verse is being moved to 2022 so that the team can continue working to deliver a smooth gameplay experience. We will share updated launch details at a later time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
For players who purchased a physical version of Resident Evil Village, we recommend that you keep track of the included Resident Evil Re:Verse download code or add it to your account now so that you are ready to play when the game launches next year.

The exact reason for the delay wasn’t stated, but it’s likely related in part to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected many development teams around the world.
