Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Update Improves PS5 Compatibility

A new update for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has been released to improve backwards compatibility on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Although this is not a full next-gen version, the update improves performance of the game on the PS5 with improved frame rates and resolution.

The frame rate cap of 45fps has been removed and increased to 6fps on the PS5. In addition, Dynamic resolution has also been disabled allowing the game to render at a higher resolution of 1200p (up from 1080p). However, these improvements are lacking compared to the Xbox Series X update.

The Xbox Series X version of the game has benefited from the addition of Performance and Normal Modes, allowing the user to choose between increased FPS or Resolution. The Normal Mode supports up to 4K resolution using dynamic resolution between 1512p to 2160p, while the Performance Mode supports 60fps like the PS5 update.

In general, there’s improved frame rates that remove strange 45fps limits on Series S and PS5, new dynamic resolution ranges that specifically target the new consoles, and improvements to the post-processing resolution on the higher end consoles (so not Xbox Series S).
