Sony have announced via Twitter that PS4 exclusive, Ghost of Tsushima, has become the fastest selling first party original IP on the console. The game launched on 17th July 2020, and within its first 3 days, shifted over 2.4 million copies.
The previous record holder was Guerrilla Games’ Horizon: Zero Dawn, which was released in February 2017 when there were less PS4 consoles in circulation. It remains to be seen whether Ghost of Tsushima can also beat Horizon’s lifetime sales, which stands at over 10 million copies sold (as of February 2019).
Recently, The Last of Us Part II became the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive overall, selling over 4 million copies in the first 3 days.
