DualShock 5 Designs for the PS5 Revealed in Patent

The DualShock 5 controller design has been revealed by a patent filed in Japan, which has since been taken down. The DualShock 5 will be the new controller launching alongside the PS5 later next year, neither of which have been officially revealed yet.

The patent application includes drawings of what the DualShock 5 controller will look like, and while it’s similar to the DualShock 4 controller used by the PS4, there are some obvious differences.

Firstly, the light bar has been removed, which means the charging port has been moved to the top of the controller. It also appears that the charging port may be USB-C, although this is speculation based on the designs.

The analogue sticks also appear to be slightly smaller than the DS4 versions, and there appears to be some new ports below the PS button (where the DS4 charging port is located). This could be a built-in mic or even magnetic contacts for charging on a docking station.
