Ubisoft Delays Watch Dogs Legion and Two Other Games

Ubisoft has delayed a bunch of games, including Gods & Monsters, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Watch_Dogs Legion until 2020/21. The main reason for the delay is to allow the development teams extra time to deliver the best experience for players.

The delay for these three games is in direct response to the release of Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and the disappointing sales during the game’s first weeks. While Ubisoft will continue to support Ghost Recon Breakpoint and listen to community feedback, it has decided to implement “significant changes to [their] production processes.”

The delay of these games will impact Ubisoft’s financial results for this financial year, but it’s good to see that the company is focusing on quality over profits.

The delay to these games will also mean that they are likely to release on next-generation consoles around the same time as the current-generation versions.

In a statement to MarketScreener, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Ubisoft Yves Guillemot has the following to say:

In this overall context, we have decided to postpone the releases of Gods & Monsters, Rainbow Six Quarantine and Watch_Dogs Legion until 2020-21. While each of these games already has a strong identity and high potential, we want our teams to have more development time to ensure that their respective innovations are perfectly implemented so as to deliver optimal experiences for players.
