Over the Christmas period, the PlayStation Network suffered a DDoS attack which took out the network for a number of days. The situation frustrated new PS4 owners and new ones alike, and to compensate everyone affect, Sony is extending PlayStation Subscriptions for everyone.
If you had an active PlayStation Plus subscription during the downtime – whether a trial or full subscription, you’ll get five extra days free. If you trial happens to expire when the extension becomes available, you’ll still get the extra five days.
The extension will be automatically applied, so no action is necessary to receive the extension.
In addition, sometime this month Sony will announce that for a limited time, they will be offering a 10 percent discount code good for a one-time discount off a total cart purchase in the PlayStation Store as a thank you to ALL PSN members.
