PlayStation Home Closing its Doors in March 2015

PlayStation Home first came into existence in December 2008, and over the years tens of millions of users around the world have grown the social gaming platform into a thriving community of creative and enthusiastic gamers.  However, Sony has announced that PlayStation Home will be closing its doors in March 2015, following suit with Asia.

A message posted on the PlayStation Community reads:

Due to a shifting landscape, PlayStation Home will cease publishing new content on the 12th of November, 2014. Gamers in Europe will be able to download content until the 3rd of December, 2014. As a token of our tremendous gratitude to the community, we will also be releasing a series of free content prior to the platforms closure on the 31st of March, 2015.

Even to this day, Home is still popular with gamers, but the social network was never really adopted by developers. While there was plenty of content created for the platform, game launching and other game-related features were adopted by only a handful of games. There were even rumours of the platform launching for the PS Vita a few years ago.

Gamers have until 31st March 2015 to make the most of PlayStation Home and collect any last trophies they’re missing for it.
