Although the Destiny beta was previously advertised as a pre-order incentive, Bungie has decided to open up the beta to all gamers with compatible consoles. The open beta is available to anyone with a PS4, PS3, Xbox One or Xbox 360, and will be available until the end of July 26th 2014. You have just over a day to download and play the game if you haven’t already.
Bungie decided to open up the beta to all gamers so they can gather more data to help improve the game, while also testing the server infrastructure needed to support all the online gameplay. All the data from the beta will help Bungie prepare for the game’s full launch in September, which will hopefully go without a hitch.
If only other developers took the time to properly beta test their games, we could have avoided the online issues experienced by GTA Online at launch, not to mention other online games which experienced similar issues.
