Earlier today at CES 2014 in Las Vegas, Sony’s Andrew House revealed that the company sold 4.2 million PS4s world wide as of December 28th 2013. The PS4 outsold the Xbox One by 1.2 million units, with Microsoft confirming that 3 million Xbox Ones were sold in 2013 in its 13 launch territories.
The huge sales for both consoles means that the next-get consoles already have an install base of over 7 million units combined. Both consoles have yet to release in a number of territories, which will see this figures further boosted. Sony also revealed that more PS4s will be hitting retail this week.
Its unclear how many units the Wii U sold in 2013, buts likely that the PS4 has outsold even the Wii U in the space of just five weeks.
