Sony Working on VR Headset That Will Work with PS4

Sony have announced a wireless virtual reality headset at the IFA consumer electronic show in Berlin, which features a 3D-ready display, 7.1 virtual surround sound and two tiny OLED displays. The headset is due out in November and will work with PCs, mobiles and consoles, including the PS4.

The headset, HMZ-T3W, will give the user the equivalent of a 750″ display from 20 meters. However, the headset does come with a £1,300 price tag, which will be out of most gamers’ budgets. The device includes a new WirelessHD connection that allows it to connect to nearly any device, including mobile phones.

The news comes on the back of recent rumours that Sony are working on a PS4 specific headset, to be compatible with games such as DriveClub. Eurogamer are reporting that the PS4-specific headset will be revealed next year, and has been demonstrated internally, allowing players to look around the cockpit of their car in DriveClub, which is developed by Evolution Studios.
