Firmware v3.50 will be available to download next week, and will come with 3D support for Blu-Ray movies. For those that have purchased 3D TVs, the firmware update will be available to download on September 21st 2010. The new firmware update will effectively make all 38 million PS3s worldwide compatible with 3D Blu-Ray discs.
This new firmware update will complete the PS3’s 3D capabilities. Back in April, 3D game support was added to the console with firmware v3.30.
While support for Blu-ray 3D discs is the primary new feature within the 3.50 update, there will be a few additional features. More details about the new firmware update will be available next week.
