Final Fantasy XIV on PS3 Delayed Due to “Technical Problems”

Last month we reported the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV was scheduled for release in March 2010, a whole six months after the release of the PC version. Square Enix has now revealed the real reason why they decided to bump up the release date of Final Fantasy XIV, citing  “technical problems” as the cause of the delay.

According to Final Fantasy XIV producer Hiromichi Tanaka (rough translation):

“We understand the wrath of players and developers are sorry because they did everything they could to have a simultaneous release date, but unfortunately they have encountered many technical problems on the development of the game for PS3. We strive to release the game as soon as possible. If possible, we would publish the game sooner, we would like to start as soon as possible the beta on PS3.”
