Top 5 PlayStation 3 Titles to Look Forward To

2010 is looking to be a big year for Sony with many exclusives and hotly anticipated titles. In fact, Q1 of 2010 is likely to be a expensive period for PlayStation gamers, with the likes of MAG, Heavy Rain and Gran Turismo 5 scheduled for release. We’ve put together a list of five titles every PlayStation gamer should experience in the New Year.

MAG (Massive Action Game) (Exclusive)

MAG is pushing the boundaries of gaming, not just on the PlayStation 3, but for the industry in general. It’s the first title to support a massive 256 players online simultaneously. MAG just recently finished a closed beta, and an open beta will commence from January 4th for a limited amount of time. Make sure you get a change to experience the massive multiplayer action this game has to offer before the complete title launches at the end of January.

Gran Turismo 5 (Exclusive)

Despite releasing Gran Turismo 5 Prologue earlier, Gran Turismo 5 is Polyphony Digital’s first ‘true’ PS3 Gran Turismo title. Expected to be release in March / April 2010, Gran Turismo 5 will feature over 950 cars with realistic car damage and 20 tracks, including the Top Gear test track. A Time Trial demo of the game is already available to download from the PlayStation Store.

Heavy Rain (Exclusive)

French Studio Quantic Dream have constructed a title which will give ‘adult games’ a new meaning. It looks beautiful and promises to affect us, both emotionally and psychologically, in a way that no other game has ever done before. Director David Cage has stated that Heavy Rain would be “a very dark film noir thriller with mature themes”, without any supernatural elements, and that “the real message [of the game] is about how far you’re willing to go to save someone you love.” Expected in February 2010, Heavy Rain is shaping up to change the way we play video games.

Batman: Arkham Asylum 2

With the success of Batman: Arkham Asylum this year, Rocksteady has announced that the sequel is in the works, with the Joker returning and hopefully the introduction of new villains. Batmat: Arkham Asylum smashed sales records and the assumptions that all licensed titles are crap. With this track record, the sequel is expected to fare even better.

Final Fantasy XIII

The first Final Fantasy game for the PlayStation 3 has been enjoying massive success over in Japan, selling over 1 million copies in the first few days of release. First appearing at the 2006 E3, the game features both futuristic and natural elements; it is set between a land of wilderness and the high-tech world above it, and is expected to launch in Europe and North America in March 2010.

Bonus: God of War III (Exclusive)

Kratos is back for the third and final installment of the multi-million unit-selling trilogy God of War. God of War III brings epic battles to life with stunning graphics and an elaborate plot that puts Kratos at the center of carnage and destruction as he seeks revenge against the Gods who have betrayed him. God of War III will be epic in every sense of the word. The game is set for a March release and will show every other ‘hack and slash’ pretender out there just how it’s supposed to be done.
