DualShock 3 now available in Japan

The DualShock 3 controller for the PlayStation 3 is now available to purchase in Japan. The new controller runs on the old rumble technology found in the PlayStation 2’s DualShock 2 controller, but features the motion sensing technology found in the SIXAXIS controller. The controllers are available in standard black and ceramic white. Unfortunately for European and US PS3 owners, the DualShock 3 controller will not be released until Spring 2008, but if you can’t wait that long you can always import a Japanese version.

The controller will work with US and European consoles should you decide to import. The DualShock 3 controller is wireless just like the SIXAXIS controller and can be recharged using a USB cable. DualShock 3 support was added in firmware 1.92/2.00 but there are only a number of games compatible with the rumble feature:

    What happened to the new technology that was supposed to be in this controller? Why did they revert to the old DS2 technology?

    The people who invented the force feedback sued sony for using their technology. Sony eventually settled out of court and they done a deal so that is why it’s taken till now to incorporate it in the ps3 pads.
