Almost 50% of Physical Games Sold in UK in 2018 were for PS4

According to a report from Games Industry, 48% of all physical video games sold in the UK in 2018 were for the PS4, although the figure was slightly down compared in 2017. 30.2% of the physical games were sold on Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch doubled it’s sales to 16.8%.

In terms of actual games, FIFA 19 was the best selling game of 2019, but the game sold less physical copies than previous years, as digital copies accounted for 25% of sales. Red Dead Redemption 2 was the second best selling title of 2018.

According to GI, it was a good year for PlayStation as a publisher. The success of God of War and Spider-Man, saw Sony claim 9.6% of the market as a games publisher. Spider-Man alone sold 676,621, making it the fourth best-selling physical game of the year, while God of War was at No.8 with 399,395 copies sold.
