The PS4 has been doing incredibly well, selling a staggering 4.2 million units worldwide last year. In the UK, the console has managed to sell a massive 530,000 units in just give weeks according to MCV, making it the fastest selling console in UK history. Even more surprising is that the console has outsold every other home console in 2013, despite only being around for just over a month.
The PS4 beat the Xbox 360 by a few thousand units, securing the title of “number one best-selling home console of the year”. The PS4 wasn’t the overall best selling console, however, with Nintendo’s 3DS selling more units overall.
PlayStation’s UK MD Fergal Gara said “We are delighted with the very strong sales of PS4 to date,” before commenting on stock shortages. “Our focus now is rebuilding stock levels so those have not been able to get a PS4 can finally experience the next-gen.”
