PS4 Games to have Suggested Retail Price of £60

The price of games on next-gen consoles will cost more than current-gen games, as expected, with the average PS4 game to cost £59.99. Sony has set the suggested retail price (SRP) of games, including DriveClub and Killzone: Shadow Fall, at £60, but you can expect them to reach as high as £70 depending on the publisher. Currently, the most expensive game on the PS3 is FIFA 14, which has  RRP of £54.99.

Of course, you’ll be able to get better deals online, with Amazon selling most games at £49.99, but no more than £54.99. As mentioned previously, Sony is making a loss on the PS4 hardware, so is looking to recoup some of the loss from game sales.

The price increase shouldn’t come as a surprise to most of you. As with every generation, the price of games increase to counteract the increased costs of development games in newer, more advanced hardware. Overtime, the cost of games should come down to the current PS3 prices, but don’t expect that to happen for at least a few years.

The £10 cost to upgrade to the PS4 versions of specific games is now a much better deal, effectively saving you money, while giving you two games. Sony also re-confirmed the £54.99 price point of the DualShock 4 and PS4 Camera, as well as pricing the stand and charging unit at £15.99 and £24.99 respectively.
