Sony will Focus on Family Gaming this Christmas

Sony will be going “family friendly” with the PlayStation 3 this Christmas, according to  the latest Game Informer magazine, which features an interview with Shuhei Yoshida. “Our strategy for Christmas is to go big on family-friendly titles,” he said.

“We’d love to have multi-million sellers for the holiday,” said Yoshida, when asked about the absence of blockbusters for the console over the holiday period. “But each title needs time to develop, especially new IP like The Last of Us.”

“Our strategy for Christmas is to go big on family-friendly titles. This is a neglected genre for the PlayStation 3, but as it matures, I think it’s really important to have these games on the platform.”

Hardcore games will have to wait until next year to get their hands on blockbuster titles like The Last of Us and God of War: Ascension. However, many third party titles will be available before the holidays, including Assassin’s Creed III.
