The PS3 version of ModNation Racers, the upcoming kart-racer from United Front Games, will be getting a demo soon. If you didn’t get a chance to join the Beta back in December, this will be your chance to try out the game before release. The demo doesn’t have a confirmed date yet but Chuck Lacson, Associate Product Marketing Manager for SCEA, did let slip that the demo will be available “very soon”.
ModNation Racers is only a few weeks away from release – the game is set for release on May 21th in Europe and North America on May 25th 2010. If you can’t wait that long, we have some footage of the game including the opening sequence, the first race and a look at the ModSpot. If you have played the beta, you will be familiar with the layout of the ModSpot.
ModNation Racers follows on from what LittleBigPlanet started – Play, Create, Share; only with racing. ModNation Racers is all about Race, Create, Share. It’s a fresh take on classic karting games that involves lots of personalization from creating your own very own drivers, karts and even tracks. We got the opportunity to play the game before public release, and here are our thoughts.
With the UK Elections currently underway today, the developed have re-created the three main candidates within the game, complete with their own cars. If you haven’t voted yet, get down to your local polling station now and cast your vote. If you have already voted, check out the three candidates for Prime Minister below.
With the ModNations Racers release only week away, the trophy list for the game has been leaked. The game has a total of 48 trophies, with 7 secret ones. Of those that are revealed, you have 3 Gold, 6 Silver, 31 Bronze, and of course, the Platinum. Check out the list of trophies below.
If you purchased or subscribed to the April episode of Qore earlier this month, the Qore team have a little surprise for you. Episode 23 will be updated to allow customers to download an exclusive demo of ModNation Racers for the PSP. The demo will be available to download from tomorrow, April 22nd 2010, by visiting the download center in the episode.
The custom soundtrack feature on the PS3 hasn’t received much support since it was added in Firmware 2.40, but it has been confirmed that ModNation Racers will support the feature. According to Chuck Lacson, the Associate Product Marketing Manager of SCEA, ModNation Racers will have custom soundtracks support, “If you play music on your XMB, that’s the music that will replace the in game soundtrack.”
ModNation Racers has two different multiplayer elements for users to enjoy: online multiplayer for up to 12 players and split-screen for up to four local players. In addition, the two local players can join in on online races adding a new element to the game. Do you play together, helping each other out or do you take your friend out at every available opportunity?
The release date for ModNation Racers has been confirmed as May 25th in the U.S. A date for Europe is still outstanding, however Sony have stated that they’re aiming for a European release in the same week as the U.S. release, which makes May 28th a likely launch date.
Soon, Europeans will have their chance to take part in the ModNations Racers Beta. The US has been enjoying the beta since December 15th 2009. On January 22nd 2010, 100,000 people from Europe will get access to the beta. To get access to the beta, simply be one of the first to log on to the PSN store on Thursday 21st and download the Beta. Once downloaded, the fun will start when the lights turn green on Friday 22nd of January.
