Boot up your PlayStation 3 morning to download the latest firmware update for your console. As announced earlier this week, the firmware update renames the PSN Accounts to SEN Accounts, but that’s not all. We were surprised to see that Sony made a few improvements to the software too.

PlayStation Vita system compatibility
- You can now copy content such as music, video and image data, and games and other applications, from the PS3 system to the PS Vita system and vice versa. You can also back up the data saved in the PS Vita system to the PS3 system hard disk. You can also update the system software for your PS Vita system using the network features of the PS3 system.
- To use these features, connect the PS3 system and the PS Vita system with a USB cable. Operations are controlled from the PS Vita system.
Settings
- [Delete PS Vita System's Backup Files] has been added as a feature under [System Settings].
- Upscaler output and Cinema conversion are now supported for Blu-ray Disc™ (BDMV) content.
- You can now select the items you want to update under Settings > [System Settings] > [Automatic Update]. This feature is exclusively for use by PlayStation Plus members.
- [English (United Kingdom)] and [Portuguese (Brazil)] have been added as options under Settings > [System Settings] > [System Language].
Game
- [PS Vita System Application Utility] has been added.
PlayStation Network
- [Privacy Settings] has been added as a feature under [Account Management].
A new system software update (v4.00) is now available to download. In preparation for the launch of PS Vita in Japan, this update will prepare the PS3 to serve as a content management device. It will allow users to copy their media content such as games, music, photos, and videos between PS Vita and PS3, back up PS Vita save data to your PS3 hard drive, and update the system software for your PS Vita system using the network features of your PS3.

A new PS3 system software update, v3.66, has been released. With this minor update, system stability during use of PS3 format software and network services has been improved. Nothing else is new in this update, and it’s mandatory to install this before you can play online.
Sony has released a new optional system software update for the PlayStation 3. This new firmware improves the operating stability of some PS3 format software, and changes the XMB item [SaveData Utility (minis)] to [SaveData Utility(minis/PSP)].

Sony has released a new firmware update for the PlayStation 3 to go alongside the relaunch of the PlayStation Network. The new software update requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The v3.61 update is mandatory and is available now.
