After complaints last week of Firmware v3.41 preventing Hard Drive upgrades, Sony has re-released the firmware making minor tweaks to the files. Sony initially denied the claims but has since patched the firmware and issued the following statement: “To resolve these symptoms, we have released a new version of system software update 3.41 with a very minor change (the version number does not change) on August 2nd.”

If you have updated your PlayStation 3 to Firmware 3.41, you may have noticed that the download was much quicker than previous updates. Somewhere in the past, Sony enabled quick “patches” to be downloaded to the console, rather than downloading the full firmware update which is over 130MB.

Turned on your PlayStation 3 recently? Sony has released a new firmware update for the console, bringing the system software to version v3.41. This mandatory update adds a Recommendation section to the PlayStation Store for both videos and games.
